Can porcelain and sintered stone handle fireplace heat?
Yes. Both are fired or formed at extreme temperatures and are highly heat resistant, which makes them well suited to fireplace surrounds. We still plan proper clearances at the firebox.
Can I use quartz around a fireplace?
Quartz is beautiful for the surround field but should be kept away from direct, sustained high heat at the opening, since resin binders can be affected. We advise on safe placement or recommend porcelain or sintered stone at the firebox.
